FYI: 50 State AGs, State Regulators, Form Multistate Group to Investigate So-Called "Robosigning"

The State Attorneys General, together with state financial regulators, established a group to address so-called "robosigning" foreclosure affidavit practices allegedly conducted by some mortgage servicers.

The announcement is available at:

The multistate working group has reportedly initiated inquiries into whether or not individual mortgage servicers have improperly submitted affidavits or other documents in support of foreclosures. According to the group, "[t]he facts uncovered in our review will dictate the scope of our inquiry."

State bank and mortgage regulators are participating in the multistate working group both individually and through the Multistate Mortgage Committee, which was formed in 2008 as a result of the states desire to improve the coordination, sophistication, and efficiency of state regulatory mortgage examinations.

Let me know if you have any questions.  Thanks.
